Valentine’s Day Activities and Books For Toddler and PreSchool Ages

Valentine’s Day is almost here! The exciting thing is, you can do so many fun things with your kids, such as Valentine’s Day crafts, reading books about kindness, teaching them about the heart shape, learning colors, and so much more. In this post, I’m going to include some of my favorite toddler and preschool activities along with my favorite Valentine’s Day children books. I’ve come across so many fun hands-on activities from some of my favorite Instagram accounts that share simple crafts your little ones will love!

The first activity is an easy hands-on activity I did with my 3 ½ year old son. It was a Pinterest find and I absolutely loved its simplicity. It’s a DIY Heart Stamp using cardboard tube rolls.

Materials:

Directions:

  1. Create a crease at the one side of the cardboard roll to form a heart. On the bottom, squeeze to form the pointy bottom shape of a heart.
  2. Once you made the form of a heart on the cardboard, wrap a rubber band around the end of the tube to hold it in place.
  3. You can also make a heart shape on the other end of the cardboard tube to use a different paint color on that side.
  4.  Put the paint colors you’d like to use on a flat paint palette or any plate.
  5. Dip the heart shape roll into the paint and start stamping.

Suggestion: Let your child stamp one color at a time. It makes it easier for them to focus on each color. Give them the independence and confidence to place the stamp wherever they want.
