Selling Beautycounter: The Truth on How I Became a Consultant and My Honest Opinion About It.
Did I even know about Beautycounter before joining? No! Did it take it me forever to join? Somewhat! Have I ever used their products before I joined? Never!
It all started because a best friend of mine begged me to join her Beautycounter Team and I insisted I had no interest in anything with direct sales. At the time, I had recently started my blog and was thinking that there is no way I’m doing this. I didn’t have time to be doing anything beyond my blog. My mind was set to, “I’m not joining!” My honest truth.
My best friend kept on persisting on getting me on her team and as time went by, I did some research on the company. Everything just stood out to me! I loved Beautycounter’s chic website, the appearance of the products, the reviews from customers which were rated so highly, and most importantly their mission of getting safer products into the hands of everyone.

I also loved everything I came across when it came to the CEO of Beautycounter, Gregg Renfrew. She seemed intelligent, beautiful, confident, elegant, and above all, her transparency really stood out to me. She’s a real, down to earth, wife and mom of three, trying to better the beauty industry, with safer products and also providing a financial opportunity for other fellow women and moms like myself.
After all my research, I finally said “Yes” to my best friend who asked me over and over to join her team at Beautycounter. I’m so happy I did because I finally found high performing products that I love and are SAFE! Another benefit since joining in May 2020, was meeting some incredible women and moms like myself. I’ve gained friendships and support like no other!

What is Beautycounter?
Beautycounter is a safer beauty brand, founded by Gregg Renfrew, that began in 2013 producing safer beauty products, such as makeup, skincare, haircare and so much more. Not only have they created safer beauty products that look good but they are effective and high performing! Beautycounter has led an incredible movement to a future where all beauty can be clean beauty.
How do they do that? They do a ton of research on all ingredients, making sure when formulating their products, they are safe and do not include over 1,800 harmful or questionable ingredients. This is what they call THE NEVER LIST, which also includes over 1,400 chemicals banned or restricted in personal care products by the European Union, plus additional chemicals screened by Beautycounter and found to be of concern.

Do you know how many chemicals are banned in cosmetics in the USA? 30. In Canada? 600. In Europe? 1,400. In Beautycounter? 1,800. Yes, that’s how many questionable ingredients are in products we use daily that we know nothing about. Toxic chemicals are potentially dangerous and they say skincare products with chemicals can take just 26 seconds to absorb into your bloodstream. Even tiny amounts of certain chemicals being used daily can have huge impacts. Endocrine disrupters, which are chemicals like BPA, parabens and phthalates that mimic or block hormones, can have major health impacts because they mirror the function of your real hormones.
So if you feel something that is not right with your body, such as constant headaches, take a look at your products and also what you put inside your body, such as the food you eat. Many toxic chemicals have a lot to do with your body’s negative responses.
Beautycounter is a Certified B Corporation, which means, they met the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. They also advocate for greater transparency and regulation in the beauty industry in many ways such as going to the congress in Washington, D.C. to discuss the importance of safety in personal care products. This to me is huge and I am so honored to be part of this incredible “clean beauty” movement.

Beautycounter’s products are formulated to be safe for everyone including pregnant/ nursing women and children. They test each product rigorously and even through third party testing ensuring all ingredients to be safe. Natural makeup can include many minerals from the earth but even though it’s natural, it can still carry heavy metals such as lead, aluminum, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, and more. Products that contains contaminant metals will not list them. This is why I feel safe with Beautycounter and I know I’m in good hands. I also love how the company as whole, promotes other clean beauty brands.
After a few months have passed since I joined Beautycounter, I can truly say I am happy to be a Beautycounter Consultant. I work as hard as I want to, when I want to, or as little as I want to. As a busy SAHM of three, with children doing remote school at the moment, I do what I can, in my own time. To be honest, it takes time and work but in order to be successful in any job, it will always take time and hard work.
Through Beautycounter, I started switching a lot of my products to clean beauty such as my makeup, facial cleanser, toner, shampoo, conditioner, face moisturizer, and the list goes on. I didn’t switch all at once but I did with time and patience. As someone with acne prone and sensitive skin, I’m extremely happy with all my Beautycounter products! My advice is to be mindful on what you put in and on your body. Just like you are mindful on what you feed and put on a baby, your body deserves the same care. Chemicals are everywhere, in our food, in our products, in everything, but just one little change can make a huge difference.
